Kitting out earth-moving vehicles
Kitting out earth-moving vehicles

QinetiQ has developed a range of kits to convert current in-service military earth-moving vehicles into remote controlled units and back again at the touch of a button.

The Appliqué Robotic Kits (ARKs) can be operator fitted and transform the JCB 4CXM and CAT 320B families of vehicle into a remote controlled device for use in hazardous environments in under 12 hours. The kits will remove operators from the danger zone in activities ranging from military operations, chemical management or land clearance.

The kits are also being adapted for use on other type of vehicle.

Supporting Typhoon
Supporting Typhoon

QinetiQ has recently won a contract from the MOD's Defence Procurement Agency for further support on the Eurofighter Typhoon programme.

The contract, worth £52.5 million over the next three years, will see the company providing defined technical support, advice and safety clearance activity on top of future emergent work.

This continues a relationship with the Typhoon Integrated Project Team (IPT) which has continued for 20 years. In this time, QinetiQ has played a central role in the programme, providing support from Release to Service safety recommendations to future decision and capability support.

Complex Weapons procurement moves on
Complex Weapons procurement moves on

QinetiQ is a key player in TEAM CW - a consortium announced by Lord Drayson, UK Minister for Defence Procurement, in late July. The consotium has welcomed a package of measures designed to secure capability for the UK's Armed Forces.

The consortium, led by MBDA, will ensure innovation and technology pull-through into the Complex Weapons supply chain. The most significant item in the package was the announcement of a change to the sole source procurement policy for the Loitering Munition Development & Manufacture Programme in favour of TEAM CW.
