The muffled sounds of rail platform announcements can be some of the most irritating and distracting noises around, especially when one is straining to hear important information. Now QinetiQ has the solution as it launches NXT's acoustic panel speaker technology for rail and subway networks.
The technology, which uses existing platform fixtures and fittings to produce high quality sound reproduction for rail and subway public address systems, is currently being trailed on a number of rail and subway networks.

BBC Outside Broadcasts has signalled its intention to use the QinetiQ Skylink service for the 2005 London Marathon, allowing viewers to choose from a number of different camera views.
Operating from a small fixed-wing aircraft flying at around 30,000 feet and able to carry multiple feeds, Skylink has already been deployed at a range of high profile international sporting events, including the London Marathon, the World Rally Championship (WRC) and cycling's Tour de Suisse and Zurich Grand Prix.

QinetiQ, as one of the few global companies that currently offers Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) consultancy, is working with the Typhoon Integrated Project Team and overseeing the work to ensure the aircraft will survive an EMP. It is also providing design advice for hardening and protection and an assessment service in support of several other military projects. Once this extensive Typhoon assessment is completed it will see this new dual role fighter aircraft move a step closer to becoming operational.

This month has seen QinetiQ sign two purchase agreements with companies in the United States, subject to regulatory approval. The first is with Foster Miller Inc, a recognised leader in providing innovative engineering solutions in fields such as robotics, advanced materials technology and medical devices. The second is with St Louis-based Westar Aerospace & Defense Group Inc, one of the US's leading providers of aerospace technology solutions.
