BMW WilliamsF1 Team and QinetiQ confirmed details this month of a new technical partnership designed to inject groundbreaking British technologies into the development process of world beating race cars and bring together the best of British expertise. This unique array of technology expertise will assist the BMW WilliamsF1 Team in a number of key areas, including materials science, predictive aerodynamic disciplines and the application of GPS technology for testing data acquisition.

| The world's first automatic landing of a STOVL aircraft onto a ship |
QinetiQ has achieved the world's first automatic landing of a short take-off vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft on a ship. Funded by the US Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme and the UK MOD Joint Combat Aircraft Integrated Project Team (JCA IPT), this is a key milestone in an innovative risk reduction programme for the JSF STOVL aircraft.

| Trainees at the Empire Test Pilots' School gain greater access fighter |
The ETPS course for both pilots and engineers provides exposure to a comprehensive range of aircraft types, fixed and rotary wing from large multi engined types and fast jets. ETPS Commanding Officer, Commander 'Charlie' Brown explained: "Our students gain invaluable insight into the design of a fourth-generation platform through the inclusion of flying time on Gripen in our syllabus. They learn how to apply their test pilot techniques in an agile, fly-by-wire combat aircraft, a vital part of their preparation as test pilots of the future."

Defence Vehicle Dynamics 2005 on 29th – 30th June at Milbook, UK
DVD is the annual vehicle show run by the defence procurement agency’s Specialist and Utility Vehicles IPT.
This year QinetiQ will be showcasing a variety of innovative technology and solutions for the defence market at stand OR26, off road area. As well as X-Net, a vehicle arresting system, QinetiQ will be showcasing TALON™ - a robot used for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), reconnaissance, communications, sensing, security, defense and rescue. At less than 100 lb (45 kg), TALON™ can be easily transported and is instantly ready for operation.
