QinetiQ wins asteroid deflection study contract

A QinetiQ-led consortium has won a €450,000 contract to design a satellite mission that could one day be used to deflect an asteroid threatening the Earth. The European Space Agency (ESA) will assess the resulting mission design proposals from the QinetiQ team and two other consortia awarded similar contracts before selecting the preferred design in early 2007.

Civil Airworthiness flight test training

ETPS, the Empire Test Pilots' School which operates out of Boscombe Down has successfully trained delegates from SkyEurope Airlines in a Civil Airworthiness flight Test Training course. The course is one of a number of short courses targeted at training for fixed and rotary wing test pilots and flight test engineers.

The Defence Training Rationalisation Programme
The Defence Training Rationalisation Programme

Metrix is a consortium of world-leading organisations, each with a track record of delivery in their respective fields across training, construction, services, transition management and IT. Metrix has submitted bids for the two contracts under the Defence Training Rationalisation Programme which are currently being evaluated by the Ministry of Defence.

The innovation and expertise of the Metrix proposal will deliver major savings, provide significant investment in modern training methods and media, and will lead to more efficient training delivery while maintaining the Services' high standards of achievement. The consortium members are AgustaWestland, City & Guilds, Dalkia, EDS, Laing O'Rourke, Land Securities Trillium, Nord Anglia, Open University, QinetiQ, Raytheon, Serco and Sodexho.
